Closed 5 years ago. I was surprised to open Task Manager on my PC, as the RAM it was showing was 8GB, because actual RAM I installed was 16GB. I instantly opened up my cabinet and put both my 8GB RAMs into different slots. Rebooted and opened up dxdiag to confirm I had 16GB RAM. But Task Manager still showed 8GB RAM.
The average price of 2 8GB DDR4–3200 RAM is $59.99 as of July 2023. This means that 16GB RAM is about $17 more expensive than 2 8GB RAM. However, this price difference may vary depending on the
If you have three RAM sticks, you should use the three slots furthest away from the CPU socket. If you have four RAM sticks and a four-slot motherboard, then you can just populate all four slots with all four RAM sticks. If you have more than four slots on your motherboard, then you either have a server motherboard or a very fancy high-end
8GB (4*2) GSKILL RIPJAWS 2800mhz Memory. 2200G APU (Would be upgrading this in future) 500GB SSD. Theoretically yes but it's a crapshoot when mixing RAM. You shouldn't count on it working at all. Best chance if you can find exactly same RAM modules. DDR3 was quite forgiving which is not the case with DDR4.
2. Uncheck Maximum Memory. Another possible solution to increase RAM usage is to ensure that the ‘Maximum memory’ option in the System Configuration settings is unchecked: Right-click the Windows icon in the bottom left and select Run. Type MSConfig and click OK. Navigate to the Boot tab and click Advanced options.
Generally, we recommend 8GB of RAM for casual computer usage and internet browsing, 16GB for spreadsheets and other office programs, and at least 32GB for gamers and multimedia creators. If your PC is 32-bit, RAM size beyond 4GB would be of no use to it since it would not access it. Only 64-bit OS can use RAM beyond 4GB. Here is the tutorial on how to check your system type: Step 1. Open "File Explorer". Step 2. Right-click on "This PC" and choose "Properties".
If your RAM is single channel, all data is flowing along a single memory bus that can handle 64 bits of data at once. If it’s dual channel RAM, the data is flowing along two 64-bit routes at the same time. Most modern gaming motherboards come with dual-channel mode support. Similarly, most modern CPUs support dual-channel memory.
